Team Sammy was started in 2007 in memory of Samuel Jones. Sam passed away in February 2008, just prior to turning 6 years old from a rare brain stem cancer, called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). However, Sam and his family were privileged to be granted one of the Make-A-Wish foundation's 6000 wishes. This year marks the 28th Wish-A-Mile 300 bike ride. WAM (Make-A-Wish spelled backwards) as it is commonly known, is a bike ride that takes cyclists from Traverse City to Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, in 3 days, covering 300 miles. It has to be the single largest Make-A-Wish fundraising event in the country.
Team Sammy raises money so that other families may enjoy a wish grant and hopefully replace some of the stress during their difficult times with a joyful experience. We are proud to say that our "virtual rider" Angel Sam has raised the most money of the virtual riders in the past and we have been honored with awards from Make-A-Wish. We greatly appreciate any donations, so why not help a child and their family get a wish and donate today! Contribute to Team Sammy
